The Updates Section
I'd like to start off with this...
It's a Japanese music video for the band "L'Arc-En-Ciel" and although I didn't direct it, you'll see me as the lead actor. I would say this is the pinnacle performance of my lifetime.

7/13/10 - What the hell am I up to, anyway?
You may or may not be wondering this. In fact, I'm doing all kinds of stuff.
First off, I'm finishing post-production on my first ever narrative directing project, called CAPTAIN FORK. It's a dark, unbelievable dark, so dark people might lynch me, dark comedy.
I'm also finalizing the edit of my Split Lip Rayfield documentary NEVER MAKE IT HOME, which has taken ages to complete but should finally be ready to put out there within the next few months.
And perhaps most interesting (for me, anyway) is the FRANK & CINDY adaptation, which should be filming in the fall. I'm not directing, so my connection to this is abstract, really, but I'm sure glad it's happening. There will be some actor playing "G.J." which is pretty weird and wonderful. |

12/26/09 Shoot to Kill
A few years back I was part of a reality/game show for VH1 called "Shoot to Kill." The idea was to re-envision classic music videos from the 80's, with a budget of $500. I was proud of the video we created, but the show never aired.
I managed to track down a copy of the video online.
Here it is.
I don't know why I've done so many videos in this style. Next time I do a music video it will have tons of diagonals, I swear. |

10/7/08 Unsettling News
I've just learned that a good deal of e-mails sent to me in the past year have not, for some reason, actually been delivered. And with no bounce-back error message, the senders have assumed I did receive them, and am a jerk.
So if you sent me an important message, and were baffled and/or offended that I didn't respond, I apologize. Please do re-send it, or better yet, write to me here, as far as I know, that still works.

2/17/08 - SXSW
I'm thrilled to say that I'm going to be at SXSW in Austin this March for a new feature film that worked on, both in front of and behind the camera.
I can't tell you much about it... it's a mysterious and controversial beast. However, here is the screening information on the festival website:

And here is its fledging Myspace page:

1/22/08 - What I Learned in Kosovo
Do check out my Kosovo cell phone photo essay. Just click on the pictures, in order, while simultaneously tolerating the annoying format that makes you backtrack to the main page between each image.
carry on, then. |

10/11/07 - Improbable Lightness
Frank & Cindy won Best Documentary at Raindance. I was shocked into a sudden and still lingering lack of cynicism.
Also, this article on the TriBeCa Film Festival website is well worth reading.
